Subsidies in UK Agriculture

The UK, along with all other European Countries, makes large
contributions to the Common Agricultural Policy, which exists
in the EU to stabilise market prices in the food industries. The
CAP has helped in many countries to keep sizeable populations
working on the land, where a 'drift to the cities' would not be
wanted by anyone.
A very brief summary of the UK's balance account in 2000 is:-
