processed peas. The major brands for Unilever's frozen vegetables
in Europe include Birds Eye, Findus, Iglo and others. Developing
sustainable agriculture practices is important for the long term
health of Unilever's frozen vegetables business. Unilever has
therefore initiated a pilot project in the United Kingdom. Birds
Eye Wall's (BEW), the Unilever company running the project with
growers in the UK, is working closely with farmers and other stakeholders
to improve their understanding of sustainable agriculture for
peas.The aim is to develop sustainability standards which encompass
a commitment to quality in the broadest sense. This goes beyond
producing the highest quality frozen peas. It also includes the
agricultural processes that deliver the peas. Commitment to total
quality from the field to the final product is a responsibility
that BEW shares with its growers
